Vernagel is designed specifically to cope with bodily fluids, trapping them in a dry, semi-solid gel that is convenient and easy to dispose of. Use one 6g sachet in bedpans, slipper pans and urinals before use to prevent spillages and leaks or shake loose powder on to the floor to soak up spillages. Trials carried out in four hospitals confirmed that, by preventing spills, Vernagel sachets would save an average ward 135 days a year in nurse time and thousands on laundry costs. VernaGel is a dry granule with rapid absorption properties which solidifies bodily fluids and other medical waste. A VernaGel sachet (7g) can absorb up to 1.2L within seconds of contact with a liquid substance. For best practice, VernaGel sachets are recommended for use alongside pulp, ostomy bags, and sharps residues. Once solidified, healthcare workers can transport human waste with a reduced risk of spillage and cross-contamination. The semi-solid gel can be disposed of in a macerator toilet or slop hopper and requires little to no training. Due to its non-toxic characteristics, VernaGel is classified as compostable and an environmentally sustainable substance.
